Cranberry Lake and North White Plains Station

The boys and I had a nice outing today. We went for a moderate hike at Cranberry Lake, and then went over to the North White Plains Metro North station to fulfill Finn's railfain obsession. As always, click on the image to explore more.

Red Dragons

We had a great outing at Mountain Lakes today. We saw a red eft, a pickerel frog, a bazillion tiny little toads, and a bunch of dragonflies. There's more on zooomr... click through an image below:

I took the RHCE test for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 today. I did pretty well, I think. I'm certain I acheived the RHCT, and I'm hopeful that I've gained re-certification at the engineer level. I'll know by Wednesday.

I took a bunch of photos from the train on the way home. Most of them are crap due to the motion, the intervening glass, and the dirt upon the glass. A couple came out OK though. Click through below to find the other one:

zooomr workaround found

I've figured out a workaround for my zooomr upload problems: use Opera.

zooomr problems

I'm very happy with the goals and promise of zooomr. The planned features look to be great. Most of the existing features are great. But the latest incarnation of the upload widget is not working. I hope somebody gets it fixed soon.

Now that it's fixed, enjoy this shot from Beaver Dam Sanctuary:

Tough Love

The family went to the Bedford Hills Memorial Park to see Jean Bratman tonight, but arrived much too late for her performance. Instead, we walked over to the playground so the kids could play with some friends we met there. On the way back to the car, Kat pointed out the leaf below.

Luna Moth

I went to the train station with Finn today. Just as we were leaving, I spotted a luna moth on the wall of the warming hut on the platform:

Birds of Prey

I went with the family today to Green Chimney's Birds of Prey Day. It was packed full of people, and quite a few birds, along with the normal host familiar and exotic farm animals. I've started posting photos of the day on Zooomr.

See my zooomr site for more.
