Northbound M7

I got a nice video tonight of a northbound Metro North M7 going over the New Croton Reservior:

NYC in the Rain

I went to NYC today to get my prosthesis polished. It was raining like early March. Brought my umbrella; it was in bad shape so I tossed it in the trash in Grand Central right after I bought a new one at a shoe shine shop around the corner from Grand Central Market. $15.95, and it's a rather nice one at that.

I had a great lunch with a few pints at the Waterfront Ale House.

Of course, I took a lot of photos. A whole lot of neon. Click through the image below for my zooomr neon smartset.

Bear Mountain

The boys and I went to Bear Mountain State park today. It was way too crowded for us. We're familiar with going to places were you don't see anybody else, and we prefer it that way, but it was an interesting change of pace. The view from the top of the mountain on Perkins Memorial Drive was very nice, and we all enjoyed the zoo as well.

The vast multicultural sea of people we saw was actually nice. Nice in that they were all enjoying a nice day; sharing space, cooking food, playing games, listening to music, fishing, boating, hiking, and more. Nobody was fighting. Such a great contrast to the daily news.

All Cleaned Up

A great crew from Mill River Tree Service (millrivertree@aol.com) came by this afternoon to clean up the tree that fell on my house. Pete and his crew were courteous, professional, and they did a great job. Highly recommended the next time you need tree service.

Elm Struck

A big piece of an elm tree just fell on my house. Fortunately, only minor damage, and no one was hurt.

Leica Camera Study

I just posted a study of my old Leica IIIa, which I thankfully inherited from my maternal grandfather. It's a wonderful piece of engineering, and still works great. There's film in it right now; I just need to finish the roll and get it processed. Click on the image below to see the full set:

Campo Beach

We spent the afternoon at Campo Beach in Westport, CT today. It was a great day to be at the beach. The tide was rising when we got there, and continued to do so for the next two and half hours. That's great because it covers up so much that can smell bad at the beach!.

We all had a great time. The weather was perfect, and the snack bar is pretty good. Kat loves the Lobster Roll!

Of course I took a lot of photos, and as luck would have it, a few turned out better than average:
